| Is Massage Therapy a regulated health care
profession in Ontario and Nova Scotia? Massage Therapy is a regulated
health care profession in Ontario. This means that graduates who are
planning to live and work in Ontario are eligible to apply to the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) to write
provincial certification examinations in order to practice in Ontario.
Massage Therapy is not provincially regulated in Nova Scotia at this time.
Students may practice as a professional massage therapist immediately upon
graduation from ICT Northumberland College in Nova Scotia. |

regulating body? Yes. In Ontario with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Private Career Colleges. In Nova Scotia with the Department of Education, Private Career College Division. |

| ICT Schools are
accredited. Why is this important for me? Accreditation is the process through which a school voluntarily offers to be evaluated according to the high standards of an external accrediting authority. Accreditation is an important indication of a school’s willingness to go that extra mile for its students by choosing to establish and maintain quality business practices and high academic standards that are set and regulated by a respected external accrediting agency. Prospective students should not confuse provincial regulation with accreditation. |

| Are ICT Schools approved for government student assistance programs? Yes, students enrolled in the Massage Therapy Diploma Program may be eligible, if qualified, for assistance under the Ontario Student Assistance Program in Ontario and the Nova Scotia Students Assistance Program in Nova Scotia. |

| What is the length of the Massage Therapy program? For students registered in the Regular Program, classes are held from September to May for both years of study. For students registered in the Fast- Track Program, classes are held from January to July in their first year and September to May in their second year of study. |

| What is the cost of the Massage Therapy program? The cost for each year of the massage therapy program is $7500 at ICT Northumberland College and $8100 at ICT Kikkawa College. |

| Do you offer a payment plan option? Yes. An interest-free payment plan option is available for students who qualify. Information can be obtained from the Registrar’s Office. |

| Do you offer bursaries and scholarships? Yes. ICT Bursaries are designed to provide financial assistance to deserving full-time students. Eligibility to apply for a bursary is based on a demonstration of financial need together with a strong commitment to and enthusiasm for the massage therapy program, without an emphasis on academic standing. ICT Scholarships honour students who have demonstrated academic excellence as well as leadership and community service. Scholarships are awarded to full-time students at the beginning of each academic year according to availability. |

What are the minimum admission requirements? |

| Can I obtain my admission requirements somewhere else? Yes – however ICT Schools Admissions must review and approve the intended course outline and curriculum content before the candidate takes the course. |

| Where do I get an Application? Download an application from the ICT Schools Web Site; request an application from Admissions by e-mail, request an application by mail, or pick one up in person at you nearest ICT School location. |

| Is there an application deadline for the Massage Therapy Program? Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis. We encourage prospective students to apply as early as possible in order to maximize their chance of acceptance. |
||
| Do you accept transfer of credit from other institutions? Candidates are welcome to apply for a transfer of credit. For students who wish to transfer from another school to an ICT School, we recommend that you make application between the first and second year of study. Applicants requesting a transfer of educational credit must include, along with their application, an official transcript and course outlines. |

| Can I apply as a mature student? Yes. A mature student is defined as an applicant who does not fulfill the minimal admission requirements but is 18 years of age or older (if applying to Kikkawa College) or 19 years of age or older (if applying to Northumberland College) or 21 years of age or older (if applying to ICT Schools (Moncton). A copy of proof of age must be submitted with the application. Candidates who apply as mature students will be required to pass an adult literacy test. |

| Do
you offer part-time studies? Part-time students may register in programs starting in either September or January. Part-time students take courses along with full-time students. There is no separate program schedule for part-time students. During the application process you will meet with the Admissions Officer to review a typical schedule of courses and to make your course choices. |

| Can I apply to the program if I am not fluent in English? Yes. The language of instruction at ICT Schools is English. Students must be proficient in all areas of the English language, including speaking, reading, writing and listening comprehension. |

| Do you offer housing assistance? Yes. Although ICT schools do not provide residence housing, we provide our students with a registry of available housing in the community. Many of the locations listed are used by our students year after year. |

| What is the Preadmission Course? ICT Schools offers two options for those who wish to enroll in the Preadmission Course or are required to enroll as a condition of their acceptance. The Preadmission Course may be completed via correspondence or a combination of both home study and in class session. Please speak to your Admissions Officer to find out more. |

| Are all applicants required to take the Preadmission Course? No, ICT Schools believes that it is not necessary for all applicants to take the Preadmission Course before registering into the program. The Preadmission Course is for those applicants whose educational background warrants the additional academic preparation. For students who possess a strong academic history, we do not require the Preadmission Course, as this would mean the student incurring unnecessary additional costs. |

| Can I transfer from one ICT School to another ICT School? Yes. The Massage Therapy Program is exactly the same at all ICT Schools. |
||
| What student services are available to me as an ICT student? All ICT Student Services are available to ICT students at no extra cost. Services available include, Personal Counseling, Career Counseling, The Learning Resource Centre, tutoring and academic support services, and Provincial Examination Preparation, Student Association, Health and Wellness Focus. |
||
| Is there extra help or tutoring if I am experiencing difficulty with the
program? ICT Schools' offer tutorial support, at no additional cost, to students. Tutorial services range from one-on-one sessions to group sessions for students in key courses, peer tutoring and student involvement with the Evaluations and Promotions Committee, who work with students in addressing individual needs. Ongoing support workshops are offered to help students with, among other things, study skills and test taking skills. Personal counseling is available to assist students with the emotional strains of adult education. Each year at the Toronto campus, a Provincial certification exam preparation course is available to graduates. |

| Is there an additional cost for extra help or student services? No, unlike many schools, ICT Schools offers students a rich variety of tutorial assistance and student support services at no additional cost. |

| Is there a Student Association at ICT Schools? Yes. The College administration works closely with the Student Association in helping to maintain good communications with the student body. The Student Association provides a means of leadership development and serves the interests of students in a many significant ways. |
||
| Can I work part-time while I am in school? The Massage Therapy Program is rigorous. Most students are not able to take on part-time work as full-time students in the program. Students with good time management and study skills, good health, limited family responsibilities and good marks are more inclined to be able to take on some part-time work. |
||
| What are my employment options as a professional massage therapist? Private Practice, Sports Massage Therapist, Physiotherapy and Chiropractic Clinics, Multidisciplinary Clinics, Hospitals, Rehabilitation Centres, Spas, Resorts, Cruise Ships, Corporations, to mention a few. |

| Can I practice in other parts of Canada and the United States once I have
graduated? Ontario, British Columbia, and Newfoundland/Labrador are regulated provinces. In order to work in these provinces graduates must write provincial certification examinations. All other provinces in Canada are unregulated and a massage therapist may work freely in these provinces. In the United States many states regulate massage and have a certification processes in place. Not all states in the United States are regulated. Students should inquire on a state by state basis. |

| Does the school provide assistance to students seeking employment after
graduation? As an ICT graduate, you will receive periodic newsletters, surveys, notice of ICT continuing education opportunities, invitations to special lectures and work-shops, and preferred registration and discounts on school-sponsored events. You may also access our Employment Registry, Learning Resource Centre, and Career Counseling Services. We offer you the continuing support you need throughout your practice. |

| Does ICT Schools provide continuing education course for ICT graduates? Yes. ICT provides on-going graduate courses that graduates can take in order to increase their knowledge and treatment effectiveness and to meet legislative requirements in regulated provinces such as Ontario. |

| While I am in high school, which courses should I take to prepare to apply
for the program? We recommend that you take high school science courses and senior level physical education courses. |
